Burkitt Lymphoma Symptoms
One of the first indicators of Burkitt lymphoma is the swelling of lymph nodes. The bodily areas often affected are the jaw and neck, under a person’s arm or in the groin area. There is usually no pain or discomfort associated with these swollen glands.
Although the swollen lymph nodes caused by Burkitt’s lymphoma start out small, they can increase in size at a very rapid rate.
The endemic type of Burkitt’s lymphoma frequently attacks the person’s jawbone, but it also commonly targets the abdomen as well.
Sporadic Burkitt lymphoma almost always develops in the abdomen.
Other symptoms include:
- Lymph nodes that merge together to form one solid mass
- Rapid enlargement of the lymph nodes
- Lymph nodes that become hardened
- Unexplained swelling of the lymph glands
